COLLECTION 09/10
African Mosaique by Anna Getaneh
A major inspiration for this collection is the body painting of the Surma people of southern Ethiopia who live alongside the Omo River in the East Africa Rift Valley - a volcanic region that provides a great palette of colors. These colours are used to decorate themselves in an ancestral art form that is both ancient and so modern. This unique form of body art in the context of today’s rather depressed times are bright, joyous and uplifting – and most welcome.
The children’s collection was painted by a very talented Angolan artist Noemia Herdade Gomes, who was a joy and inspiration to work with.
